Rush Holt, New Cosponsor

Representative Rush Holt (NJ-12) became a cosponsor of the Religious Freedom Peace Tax Fund Bill, H.R. 2631, on June 28, 2006. This bill now has support from 44 members of Congress, including lead sponsor Rep. John Lewis (GA-05). NCPTF encourages residents in Rep. Holt’s district to thank him for his endorsement of this legislation.

Holt represents New Jersey’s 12th district, which includes part of Trenton, North Brunswick, East Brunswick, and the surrounding area. He cosponsored the bill in the previous congress.

The bill only needs one more cosponsor to add his or her name within the current congress to garner the most cosponsors it has had since 1990. If enacted, H.R. 2631 would allow conscientious objectors to pay their federal taxes into a fund for non-military use only.
